AFTERNOONS R.O.C.K. IN INDIANA
is an after-school program for 10-14 year old youth (5th – 8th grades) designed to prevent the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in a safe, supervised environment.

The acronym "R.O.C.K." represents the mission of the program to provide ‘Recreation’, ‘Object lessons’, ‘Culture and values’ and ‘Knowledge’ through active and entertaining focused and supportive prevention activities designed to teach youth about social and media influences, conflict resolution and refusal/resistance skills, gang and violence prevention and the structuring of leisure time to be free of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.

The Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is the primary contractor for “Defined Service Area 13” in southwestern Indiana [Dubois, Gibson, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties]. YSB subcontracts with schools, churches and community-based organizations that desire to provide these after-school programs.  Afternoons ROCK is funded by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions.

Those interested in receiving funding to conduct an after-school program in your community should contact Renee Smith, DSA 13 Director at 812-423-5816 or email rsmith@youthservicebureau.net.
