Storm pushed professor into nonprofit role

Cynthia Smith will serve as the executive director of the Youth Service Bureau. Watching the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on television was a motivating factor to send Cynthia Smith into the nonprofit world to help others. Before that disastrous event, Smith, a psychology professor at the University of Southern Indiana, thought she'd be a teacher forever. (read story)
